INTEGRATED LOGISTIC SUPPORT (ILS)

ILS provides the disciplines and the management framework to ensure that supportability and cost optimisation of an equipment or system are identified. ILS must be given full consideration throughout the life cycle of systems, from conceptual studies through design and procurement, to operation and disposal.

Correct application of ILS ensures that products and projects are fully supported through-life using a package of Project Management functions necessary to maintain the readiness and operational capability of a system with the aim of optimizing the Whole Life Costs (WLC).

It is Defence Policy that the ILS disciplines are applied to all equipment procurement programmes, including Urgent Operational Requirement (UOR) programmes, in accordance with Defence Standard 00-60 for the U, or respective standards for the country of acquisition / procurement. HR4 provide Support to Developers, Manufactures and Procurers, of MoD equipment in developing an ILS management infrastructure and capability through a process consultancy, formal training and ongoing project support.

The provision of Human Factors Integration (HFI).
Technical Support Publications.
Review and recommendation of Support and Test Equipment.
The provision of Training and Training Equipment.
Training Needs Analysis (TNA), TNA Scoping Studies and Course Training Plans.
Spares Provisioning including full DEFCON 82 support.
Packaging, Handling, Storage and Transport.
Whole Life Costs Analysis, Planning & Management.
Availability, Reliability and Maintainability.
Performing Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analysis (FEMECA).
Conducting Level of Repair Analysis (LORA). Tailoring Defence Standard 00-60 to meet the equipment and the customer’s requirements.
Tailoring of Development Items & Non-Development Items.
